Terms

Terms of use

The basis for using this website, the demo and booking a call.

Effective 7 November 2026

These terms cover your use of uk.avaforhomeservices.com, the Ava demo, demo bookings and the forms on this site. Ava for Home Services is provided by AssistCall, a Starling Global product ("we", "us"). A live Ava service is governed by your written agreement with us, which names the documents that apply to your service, including the AssistCall Terms of Service and a data processing agreement. If anything here conflicts with your written agreement, the agreement wins.

This site is for businesses. By booking a demo or asking for a service you confirm that you are acting for a business, not as a consumer.

Booking a demo or sending a request

  • Booking a demo, asking for a quote or sending a message does not create a subscription, reserve a phone number, guarantee a feature or authorise any charge.
  • Pricing is agreed with you after the demo call. Fees, any VAT, included usage, service scope, support, cancellation and any trial are set out in a written offer that you approve before anything is switched on.
  • Phone number availability and any required verification are confirmed before activation.
  • Give accurate business contact details. If we need to move a booked time, we will tell you by email.

The demo

  • The demo is for trying Ava with a business profile built from public information. Use fictional caller details only: no real customers' names, addresses, key safe or alarm codes, health details or payment details.
  • The demo cannot book visits, send an engineer, take payments, send messages or update your systems, and nothing said in it is a promise of service.
  • Demo calls and chats are time-limited and the demo is deleted after 24 hours. We may limit or stop demos to prevent misuse.
  • Do not use the demo to impersonate a business you are not authorised to represent, or to try to break the service.

What Ava does in a live service

Features marked Live on this site are available today within the scope you agree: answering calls when you can't, taking job details, following your call-out order, booking routine visits into one tested diary, answering from facts you approve, and recordings, transcripts and summaries in your AssistCall account. Features marked Planned, such as connections to Commusoft, Tradify, ServiceM8, Fergus or Jobber and text updates to your customers, are not part of your service until we confirm them in writing after testing.

Limits that matter for trades

  • Not an emergency service. Ava does not replace 999, 112 or the National Gas Emergency Service (0800 111 999). For reports of a gas smell, a carbon monoxide alarm, burning smells from electrics, water near electrics or a dangerous roof, Ava gives the safety script you approve and then follows your call-out order.
  • No diagnosis or technical advice. Ava does not diagnose faults, decide whether an appliance or installation is safe, or advise callers on repairs, electrical work or the use of pest control products.
  • No certificates or registrations. Ava does not issue, check or interpret gas safety records, Electrical Installation Condition Reports or other certificates, and does not confirm Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT or other registrations unless you supply the approved wording.
  • No automatic dispatch. A job is only accepted when someone in your team accepts it. Ava does not promise arrival times unless you have supplied a current, approved status.
  • Prices only as approved. Ava shares only the prices and call-out policies you give it and does not estimate work.
  • No payments. Ava never takes card details on a call.
  • No contracts on your behalf. Ava takes requests and books slots under your rules. Your terms with your own customers, including the information and cancellation rights consumers have under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, remain your responsibility.

Your responsibilities as a customer

  • Give Ava accurate information about your services, area covered, hours, prices and policies, keep your call-out rota current and check what Ava tells callers.
  • You are the controller of your customers' call information. Tell callers that calls are recorded, have a lawful basis, set a retention period, keep your own privacy notice up to date and pay the ICO data protection fee unless you are exempt.
  • Ava answers incoming calls. Any marketing calls, texts or emails to your customers must follow PECR, including screening against the Telephone Preference Service and Corporate TPS for marketing calls and having consent for marketing texts and emails.
  • Hold the registrations, qualifications and insurance your trade requires.
  • If you flag vulnerable households, record a priority flag rather than health details, and do not instruct Ava to collect key safe or alarm codes, card details or other information it does not need.
  • Do not use Ava for unlawful, misleading or abusive purposes.

AI limitations

Ava uses the Ava AI engine to understand callers and reply. AI can mishear a caller, misunderstand a request or give an incomplete answer. Test before diverting calls, set transfers for calls that need a person and review summaries and transcripts.

Your data

You own the business information, contacts and call data in your account. We process it only to provide and improve the service under your data processing agreement, as described in the privacy notice for this site and the AssistCall privacy policy.

Website content

Guides, checklists, dashboards and examples on this site are general information. Example businesses, calls and figures are fictional and labelled "Example". Nothing on this site is gas, electrical, building, safety, legal or financial advice. Do not copy the site's content or designs for commercial use without permission.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the site, the demo and the service running but do not promise they will be uninterrupted or error-free. The site and demo are provided "as is" to the extent the law allows, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or missed jobs. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Liability for a live service is set out in your written agreement.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above, and for significant changes that affect customers we will give notice by email.
